In October 2024 my oldest daughter attended Chameleon’s Journey overnight camp. I had no idea what to expect but she was excited for the opportunity. Located just outside of Charlotte at Camp Thunderbird, it was a beautiful setting and just far enough away to feel like she was on an adventure, but close enough for my mama heart who likes having my babies close. As I left her with the counselors and fellow campers that Saturday morning, she was nervous but excited. When I returned on Sunday morning for the closing ceremony, I found her walking arm in arm with her new friends, a huge smile plastered across her face. The closing ceremony was thoughtful, emotional, and left me filled with appreciation for the people who made this experience possible.
